The term šarriya is difficult to explain, and the reading is not entirely certain. Miller J.L. 2019a, 134 entertains a possible connection to šarra- “portion” or šāriya- “column”, but as he explains, neither of these is without difficulty.
For this meaning of EME (= Hitt. lala-), see CHD, L, 23-24. The text must be referring here to a separate oracular inquiry, since no mention of blasphemy has been made thus far.
cf. te-em-mi-eš in another liver oracle (KUB 18.11, rev. 10′).
Although the NU of NU.SIG5 is entirely lost, it is fairly securely reconstructed, as is NU.SIG5 in line 67, since the following oracular procedure also yields an unfavorable response and, as pointed out by Miller J.L. 2019a, 114, the seeress and KIN oracles never contradict the liver oracle results in this text, so far as it is preserved.
See note to line 63. Moreover, the result here must be unfavorable, since a positive symbol is putting other positive symbols in negative symbols.
Unusually, the partical -kan is found mid-sentence here.
On the location of Ḫaryaša, see Miller J.L. 2019a, 136 (with further references), who suggests this was a town in the vicinity of Šamuḫa.
The KI.MIN here likely refers back to the questions whether the goddess is angry only for the stated reasons, and no other reasons, since here and in the following inquiry it is met with a negative result (implying there is another cause of her anger), which prompts a further interrogation of the temple personel.
Miller J.L. 2019a, 136 tentatively suggests this might be an alternative spelling of Parnašša.
This city name and Šaḫḫarwantaya are otherwise unattested.
Cf. DAAM 1.60 obv. I 15′, where impi- is also used for a feature of a divine statue and comes after a silver object.
Miller J.L. 2019a, 129 seems to take GÉŠPUḪI.A as genitive (“1 staff for the deity’s hands”), but it is perhaps better taken as a nominative, since the verb in the next clause ( ḫarker) is plural. The singular verb ēšta is not a problem for this interpretation, since this list regularly uses this and other singular verb forms with unambiguously plural subjects (e.g. rev. III 67′, 69′, 71′).
