Bird oracle fragment

introductio

Short description

This fragment of a bird oracle contains portions of text on the obverse, reverse, and the edge of the tablet. The content of the three lines on the edge is unclear and does not appear to pertain to bird flight observations, as it mentions the goddess Ḫannaḫanna.

On the obverse (§1´), it is unclear how much text is missing from each line. Although the preserved text appears nearly complete – as presented in the edition by Sakuma Y. 2009b, II 513-514 (see in particular the continuity between obv. 1´ and 2´) – it is possible that entire sentences are missing, which cannot be accounted for in the present edition.
