Oracles concerning the queen’s dream and the anger of IŠTAR of Lawazantiya

introductio

Kurzbeschreibung

The content and progression of the oracular inquiries in this text are somewhat difficult to ascertain, given the often poor quality of the preservation of the text. There are several mentions of a dream which the queen had in a dream, and several of the oracles seem to be aimed at determining which god sent the dream. It is stated that IŠTAR of Lawazantiya is angry, and the text seems to mention various possible causes for divine anger, including sacrilege and missing cultic items, as well as compensation for previous omissions and offences.
