Kurzbeschreibung |
The oracles recorded in this text relate to the interpretation of a dream, perhaps of the king or queen. It is immediately confirmed that the dream came from the Storm-God and is a portent concerning Tašmišarrumma (= Tudḫaliya IV). The following inquiries are aimed at determining the message of the dream, which seems to involve the grandmother of Tašmišarrumma. There are then several questions concerning what course of action should be taken in light of the dream’s message. In column II, the inquiries aim to determine whether the dream has any significance for other individuals such as Ḫuzziya and his daughter.

Historical context |
Hout Th.P.J. van den 1995c, 198 connects the present text to KUB 48.123, a vow of a queen to IŠTAR of Lawazantiya (also mentioned near the end of these oracles) concerning a bad dream, in which she prays that it should not be a bad omen for the king and his children. The inclusion of Tašmišarrumma and Ḫuzziya (a DUMU.LUGAL, see Hout Th.P.J. van den 1995c, 106-107) means that this text therefore dates to the reign of Ḫattušili III.
